Volvo Cars and Consat develop electric car

Volvo Cars has selected Consat as a partner to take charge of the electrical development of a fully electric-powered car. Since starting in the Spring of 2009, two driveable test cars have been developed. "We have extensive experience from several prestigious and advanced assignments, but this project really stands out, both in terms of complexity and scope. We naturally feel honoured to be entrusted with taking care of all electrical integration and software development for Volvo's first electric car. We currently have a team of 17 engineers and specialists from Consat Engineering and Consat Sustainable Energy Systems who are doing a fantastic job on the project," says a proud Martin Wahlgren, Executive Vice President at Consat Engineering AB and Business Manager for the electric car project. Over several years, Consat has systematically acquired skills and capabilities in different drive lines and energy systems, which when combined with our knowledge on how to create electrical and telematic systems for special and niche vehicles, puts Consat in the best position for developing electric and hybrid vehicles. Consat is currently helping several customers to develop efficient hybrid vehicles, charging posts for electric vehicles, etc. The inclusion of Consat as the first service company in America's One Big Thing list of the most interesting Clean-Tech companies in Sweden is a confirmation of Consat's commitment and capability in the field. Consat also has solid experience and knowledge of Volvo Cars' electrical system and has previously also been entrusted in projects such as the electrical system for the C70 Cabriolet and the full electrical and telematic system for the globally renowned YCC concept car.
